Daily Guessing Game

Watch the video, guess the release year. Fifteen levels, each one song harder than the last, less time on the clock as you go. One wrong guess ends the run.

Level 1 is one song. Level 2 is two. Clear all fifteen for a perfect run and the max score of 240.

How the daily 60s music guessing game works

This is a 60s music guessing game built around one question: what year was this song released?

A short clip of a 1960s record plays, and you choose from four years.

The rules

  • There are 15 levels, and level 1 is one song, level 2 is two songs, and so on up to level 15.
  • The clock starts at 20 seconds per song and drops one second each level, down to a floor of 6 seconds.
  • One wrong guess ends the run.
  • A perfect run scores 240 points.

Why some songs accept two years

Many 1960s records came out in different years in the US and the UK.

When that happens, the game accepts either release year, and the reveal tells you which market each year belongs to.

Get better at it

Years are easier to guess when you know the sound of each one.

The year-by-year guides cover what was charting in 1960 through 1969, and the 60s rock hub traces how the sound changed across the decade.

For a gentler test, try 60s music trivia first.

The game needs no account, and the leaderboard above shows today's top five runs.

Each song starts at a spot in the recording chosen for being recognizable, so you are not left guessing from a spoken intro.

Songs in a run never repeat, so a long run means a lot of 1960s records.
